A diamond in the rough.... - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This is probably one of my favorites because it weaves a true New England event into an already rich history. Where its not a classic, its bound to make you shed a few tears.
Takes forever, but it get's amazing - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This movie takes so long to start, there is way to much build up, and people may turn it off, or get very annoyed.
But as soon as it get's going...man, look out, it's sweet!
Slaughter the storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
I thought it was a disappointing movie. But,it was not. I liked it. A guy said to his Buddy,"Im not gonna leave you here." These couples of simple words weight so much in the storm. You can pick on this movie. Cuz,it's not innovatory. Just old story, old theme. However, isn't it the unchangeable theme of our lives---Love(between lovers, friends, family and How human fight with the unmerciful nature with out faith and power).

It's a trully god movie :) - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Seeing the whole story of this movie is really sad and depressing, but some of my friends said that the end of the sotry is "ridiculios" cause they end up all of them are dead, ok so what? some people had this kind of opinion, but personally since this is a true story, and the action and also the visuals of this movie is outstanding i saw this movie several times and i don't think i will get bored fomr this movie :)
Jingjun review - The Perfect Storm Reviews
A good human expression of too much abition. Perfect storm are not much express me much about what the exactly told. May be only the true love that have a remote sensing and we not try to challenge with the force of nature next time. All visual is great, lighning, wind blow are gave us a real hard of nature. B- for stormming us
"the perfect storm" not so perfect - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This movie was way overrated. It wasn't bad, but then again it wasn't that good either. George Clooney overacts his role as the boat's captain and instead of portraying a risktaking, push it past the limit kinda guy, he ends up coming across as an eccentric madman, obsessed with catching a, as the movie put it, sh_tload of fish. The supporting cast of the movie is either overacted or almost vain. There was almost no point in the other group that gets caught in the storm, maybe just to kill some time. It is obvious Wolfgang Petersen was attempting to make some kind of sea epic with this movie, but did not suceed. This movie could've easily lost about 15-20 mins in the editing room. The performances by the other supporting cast back at home waiting on their loved ones is also overacted. I mean, instead of acting like one would who's disappointed that their loved one is never at home and out on the sea making a living, they act as if these boys are going off to war.
Despite the overacting by some actors/actreses, the storm scenes are quite spectacular. My advice would be rent it and fast forward it to the storm scenes. Out of 4 stars, I give it 2 (**)

I think the perfect storm should get a a- - The Perfect Storm Reviews
The Perfect storm was agood story. I also think the animation for the hurricane was great. George Clonney was clearly the 2nd best thing in the movie. I'm a weather freak so thats why I RADAR GYLLENHAAL love this movie. If there were a hurricane i'd stay out of it inless i was a hurricane hunter... hint hint (i am a hurricane hunter).

Enternaining, but not pefect - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This is one of the better "weather" movies I've seen. The story is interesting and well told. At times a little unrealistic. Acting from George Clooney was his full effort. Impressive visuals.
Stupid ending - The Perfect Storm Reviews
I realize that this is a true story, but how the hell do they know what happened to the Andrea Gail. They have no clue this never should have been made a movie because if you are going to make a movie about an historical event you should know all the facts and try to present them in a somewhat true dipiction because we all know sometimes you have to heat things up to keep the srory going ,but that little emotional moment at the end with marky mark was *****ing stupid as hell it was a predictable and dry romantic film line that never should have made its way to the final cut. On the other hand the film produced some pretty good and entertaing visuals that seemed to somehow take pressure of the subpar script and acting of the film

A true sad story - The Perfect Storm Reviews
It's become one of my favorite movies. When I 1'st saw the movie the story was very familiar.. i remembered seeing a documentary about that terrible storm back in 1991; really bad ***** :|
The movie is very well done! Almost like a documentary... the main story is about the fishermen on the Andrea Gail swordfish boat how they fought with the awsome power of the violent sea and even dough they gave it their best, you can't beat mother nature at it's worst...
Really great movie!! A MUST SEE!
Perfect storm but... - The Perfect Storm Reviews
the visuals were good to show the power of the storm but the story line has no excitement to make us feel the tragedy although the acting was good but the script didn't help it.
It was cool! - The Perfect Storm Reviews
What a good, Titanic and Posiden mix! It had some good actors and good actresse and I loved it! Wikedly good!

The perfect storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
"... is spectacular! It's just a great movie! It's also very sad because it's true. The suspense in this film is overwhelming! You should see it!"
Not good?? - The Perfect Storm Reviews
I concur with bubbagump258 when he wrote, "You Gotta Love A Fishing Movie!!!!". Indeed bubbaloogumpin259, indeed. 'A River Runs Through It', is my top fave for fishing movies, but this one takes second... If you ever wondered what it would be like to commercial fish, you must see this movie. And, anyone who thinks this movie is less then Oscar-worthy, don't like nor respect the sport of fishing. That's it, that's all I came to say.
Must see movie it's #1...... - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This movie was an alsome and great.I loved how they took this true story and made it into a movie. It's #1 in my book a must see movie for the whole family to watch togather..........

A true story is told to the world - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This movie was something that you will remember. The actors in this movie tryied to find out all the could about the real people on the "Andrea Gail." George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, John C. Reilly, William Fichtner, John Hawkes, and Allen Payne made these six people look like the heroes they are. The visuals for this movie were so great. They built the Andrea Gail two times just to make sure they could get all of the angles that they wanted.
Gripping adventure story, definite guy flick - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Renting this movie in HD using the Xbox 360 Movie Rental Download service - first HD movie on my new HDTV.
Great Movie if you love tales of adventure and survival... A little slow at times but makes up for it in other ways. Great Visuals, especially of the Ocean.
Great Actors, as well -- who make you sympathize with and like each character. I give the story an - on the A due to the ending, but it's a semi-true story, what can you do? My girlfriend really didn't like the ending due to it happening to "such nice guys" -- HELLO, the nice guys were the ACTORS, not necessarily the real people... A testiment to how immersive the movie felt, as well as how likeable the characters were.
One of his best ones. - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This is a great fresh movie with Clooney and a great supporting cast. This has great special effects. A huge hurricane and great stunning stunts galore.

Waste of brand name talent - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Quite frankly, few will find empathy for a bunch of overly ambitious fishermen, who risk battling one of history's worst storms for the sake of keeping a big swordfish catch. They forego all the loved ones they left behind, which the screenwright or director establishes in the opening scenes, for the sake of a big haul. In the end, we don't feel anything for them, except that these were one stupid group of fishermen.
Waste of time - The Perfect Storm Reviews
I thought this movie was probably thee biggest waste of my life. It totally insulted the book. The story was all over the place. The dialogue was the worst written I have ever heard out of a movie. The part where the little kid tries to get all mature with his dialogue was what sent me over the edge *baaararrfff*.
Then again, what do ya expect from Wolfgang Peterson. A guy who's known for making crap.

Its twister in the high seas - The Perfect Storm Reviews
The special effects were the only interesting elements in the movie. The stormy skies, the violent sea and a gigantic tidal wave looked very impressive. Despite the great special effects and some good action sequences, the movie is unable to generate the high level of energy and excitement that I was expecting from this movie. The acting and story were decent.
Not good until the end - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This movie has alot of build up and doesn't get to eciting until the end. Most movies have about 20 minutes of build up before you get into the main plot but this has more than an hour. IF you've seen it before then I recomend you fast forward to the good parts if you are going to watch it again.
Dissapointing!!! - The Perfect Storm Reviews
The Perfect Storm was a boring and stupid movie. Mark Wahlberg needs a lot of acting lessons. Diane Lane was good as the girlfriend, but everything else about the movie was dreadful. Do not watch this movie and avoid at all cost.

Bad movie - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Mrs. Peck made us watch this movie. It's really bad. I would rather watch Paco poo on Theo's meteorology paper than this movie. I hate the fat lady. Do not watch this or else!!! Kleiser sucks
Imperfect storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
God this was awful. I wished the movie was in real time so that the waves would drown me. If you have the misfortune to see this move twicwe, it falls in the "so bad it may be good" category.
Great acting, so-so plot - The Perfect Storm Reviews
George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg And Diane Lane Were All Great But It Just Didn't Work For Me. It Wasn't Bad But It Wasn't As Good As I Thought It Would Be. The Boat Scenes Were Great In This Movie Along With The Visuals.

Not perfect - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Its very entertaining, but its not one of the best made films of the year, the screenplays not that great, the dialogues not so good, but it really makes you care about the characters, and its definatly worth wile.
The perfect storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Needing a good catch, for more money the swordboat, Andrea Gail departs from Glouscester, Massachusets. The six man crew makes a giant payload catch only to find themselves with a broken ice machine. Their only hope now is to head straight into a freak hurricane and into the bowels of hell, also deemed "the perfect storm".
Seeing the magnificience of hundred feet waves is so close to reality that it completely amazes me. Action like no other, instead mortal man fighting mortal man it's mortal man versus mother nature. This is the type of movie that can not only make the viewers wide eyed but can also be a memorial for those oh so many Glouscestermen who lost their lives over the past centuries. I will not get over how good this movie is.
Perfect storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
With this movie based on as real occurence that happen, i thought it did a good job on recrating the movie. I like the Red sky as the boat was leeave the port becuase of the old saying red sky at dawn sailor delight, red sky at night sailor beware. Which this came true in the movie.

The perfet storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Awesome visuals, and edge of your seat storyline. I felt like I was there and trying to catch my breath.
The end is truly awful! - The Perfect Storm Reviews
I thought this movie will be kind of entertaining or interesting but it wasn't any of that! The acting is poor and at times maybe mediocre and the dialogues are very stupid! The worst part of the movie is the end! It was not-that-bad-movie till then but when it was over I was outraged! They drowned!!! What a ridiculous ending! To watch 1,5 hours to see them drown?!? What a waste!
Excellent movie, excellent storyline - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This was an excellent movie. Fantastic acting with a terrific storyline. Special effects were great. Very good ending. Anybody who has not seen this movie, SEE IT!!!!

Not the best ending. - The Perfect Storm Reviews
it's a good and interesting movie.George Clooney permored well. The scenario and direction was good. The ending could be better. In my opinion something is missing from that movie..
Lengthy and not bad - The Perfect Storm Reviews
You can feel as it progresses that it's just adding on and on to the inevitable conclusion but other than that there isn't much missing. The script isn't perfect but the cast does it's best. The special effects are truely something else and that final sequence is one suspenseful moment.
You gotta love a fishing movie!!!! - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This is one of those movies about men, fishing, dangerous weather, and the women who love them. The crew of the Andrea Gale, a swordfish boat, try to turn around their luck by fishing one more time in the season. Unfortunately for them a historical event happens to prevent their safe return. For the first time in recorded history three major storm, including Hurrican Grace, smash together to form one murdering weather pattern often reffered to as the Perfect Storm. Most of the movie after they lost their radio is guessed upon but the makers and actors do their best to honor those that lost their lives. They do it well. The special effects on this movie are amazing and the action nonstop. I have given this movie the rank #120 out of the top 500 movies of all time.

Great weather movie - The Perfect Storm Reviews
the soundtract was awsome. the actors play a well role. the scenes were develope and the visuals were outsanding. I felt like I was there with them throughout the the movie and felt what they were going through.
It's like your with them the whole time! - The Perfect Storm Reviews
When you watch this it, you forget it's a movie. It really makes you appreciate that your in your cozy warm seat. Your really fortunate your not in a storm so terrible, and not cold, and rained on, and getting hurt, and drowning half the time, and not sure if you will live. Overall, a really great movie.
Dismal atlantica - The Perfect Storm Reviews
why didn't they just go to Newfoundland instead? A good movie! It even mentions my hometown Digby! holla! Although this film could've been given a little more depth to get the audience involved, I feel it still delivers a very dramatic chronicle of the 1991 storm.

One and done - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This movie isn't for everyone. You have to be into the whole fishing east coast cold water deal. What people do need to realize, however, is that this movie is real. There are people all over the coast that live exactly like what you see in this movie. And that is what should make the movie interesting, knowing that its a real experience. Yet, I will admit the movie is a one and done thing. You watch it once and say good movie, then you never watch it again. Even though the Perfect Storm isn't a standout film, it is worth watching - especially if you are interested in the deep sea fishing stuff.
The perfect storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
It's kind of slow at first but it a good movie.I's based on a true story but after seeing the ending I dont know how much is true with everyone dieing.
The perfect movie - The Perfect Storm Reviews
This movie is perfect. Great acting and very believable characters that you care about, presenting a hard way of life that I had very little insight into before the movie, but was very fascinated by mostly throught the strong characterizations by Clooney, Wahlberg and crew, Swordfish fishing in a fishing town.
Great direction, well paced and efffective use of special effects. I've watched this a few times and certain scenes still produce a very strong emotional response from me even though I know exactly waht's coming. I'm surprised this didn't win the best picture of the year award.
The perfect storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
So the music got a little out of hand (played every five minutes) and it seems like Wolfgang Petersen had to push it to get the movie to be PG-13. But if you read the book (BEFORE you see the movie) it makes The Perfect Storm a really great watch.
Watch the dvd version... - The Perfect Storm Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed the book by Sebastian Junger (and I've developed a true love for non-fiction ever since.) The movie by itself was good and heart-wrenching, but the DVD is even better. Sebastian Junger does a commentary on it and the great benefit is that he can point out where things differ from his book and why that was done, something I find important in books adapted for the screen.
Slow building storm - The Perfect Storm Reviews
Fishing boat captain Billy Tyne (George Clooney) was contented in life. "The fog's just lifting," he daydreams. "Throw off your bow line, throw off your stern. You head out the South Channel, past Rocky Neck, Ten Pound Island. Past Niles Pond, where I skated as a kid. Blow your airhorn and throw a wave to the lighthouse keeper's kid on Thatcher Island. The sun hits ya. Ya know what? You're a goddamn swordboat captain! Is there anything better in the world?"...Then, you head out to sea and unsuspectingly sail into three converging storms that merge into a titanic super-storm of historic proportions.
Based on real-life events that occurred in Halloween of 1991, in and around a fishing village in Gloucester, Mass., and on a book about the events by Sebastian Junger, THE PERFECT STORM precariously tilts between a bombastic special effects blow-out and calculated social commentary, with the drama of human tragedy to boot. The picture starts as a still life portrait of the landlocked lives of the fishermen, and the economic despair that leads them to toss themselves into the tempest. The night before they sail to scrape one last desperate net through the waters to make payroll, the crew drinks hard at a bar to the dismal lyrics of Bruce Springsteen's "Hungry Heart" ("I went out for a ride and I never went back," the lyric laments, "Like a river that don't know where it's flowing").
It's fair to say that THE PERFECT STORM is two good movies for the price of one: a seaworthy drama, and an even more airtight thriller. There's an incident with a shark and a man overboard but, for the most part, the plot is mundane enough: cash strapped fishermen take their vessel out to sea one more time, pushing the envelope of safety in light of the weather. When they get to their designated fishing spot, they find the fishing to be slim pickins' and, in growing desperation, they set out toward the Flemish Cap, a place worthy of its exotic name. When they get there, the fishing's great, but their ice machine breaks down, meaning that their bountiful catch will spoil if they don't turn home at once. Enter the storm. Exactly in front of them. And stir.
The calm before the STORM may jar viewers who just want to see George Clooney get wet and Mark Wahlberg slapped around by seventy foot waves. The prolonged quiet reminded me of the dynamic of JAWS (1975), another seagoing film that builds to a fever pitch from relative chatty and melodramatic start. Clearly, PERFECT STORM is not "perfect": it's not as mean and streamlined as JAWS. However, James Horner's brassy soundtrack helps. The storm sequence is not only thrilling but, according to a documentary currently playing on the Discovery Channel (called simply "The Storm"), dead-on in terms of accuracy.
